Image courtesy: MySpacePfc. Scott Barnett was a man who loved his wife. He married Nikki in 2008, shortly before he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Germany. Pfc. Barnett was then ordered to deploy to Iraq, where he gave his life on Thursday. As a devoted husband, it was tough for the 24-year-soldier to be away from his high school sweetheart, as the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
"We've been together over 5 years, married for 1," he wrote on his MySpace page. He added that he enjoyed video games, traveling, hunting and camping.
The Army had recently told Barnett that he was going to be sent next to Afghanistan, his cousin said.
On Jan. 15, he wrote on the site about his frustration: "The Army has kept me away from the ones I love long enough!"
Barnett, who the Pentagon said died supporting combat operations in Tallil, represents a third generation of service in his family. He was from Concord, California, where his mom and sister still live. According to the Chronicle, his dad lives in Washington state. Let's all keep them in our thoughts.
