In one of the most outrageous examples of hypersensitivity during the war on terror, three U.S. Navy SEALs stand accused in connection with the alleged assault of an al-Qaeda terrorist. Ahmed Hashim Abed, who murdered and mutilated four Blackwater security guards, claims one of the elite troops punched him while he was being captured. Yes, you read that correctly, three U.S. Navy SEALs are going on trial because a terrorist got a fat lip.The independent Navy Times reports that Navy prosecutors are now seeking to the delay trials for two of the accused SEALs, Special Operator 1st Class Julio Huertas and Special Operator First Class Matthew McCabe. The report explains that officials are seeking the delay "apparently because of evidence issues." Lawyers for both SEALs are opposing the request. The third accused SEAL, Special Operator 1st Class Jonathan Eliot Keefe, will go on trial April 6.
Ahmed Hashim Abed, the "alleged victim" in the case, ambushed civilian contractors -- not U.S. troops -- in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004. After they were murdered, their bodies were dragged through the streets and hung. Back in November, McCabe's attorney told Fox News the SEALs would demand to exercise their right to face their accuser:
“I don’t know how they’re going to bring this detainee to the United States and give us our constitutional right to confrontation in the courtroom,” Puckett said. “But again, we have terrorists getting their constitutional rights in New York City, but I suspect that they’re going to deny these SEALs their right to confrontation in a military courtroom in Virginia.”
I'll be very clear on this point: I don't care if this terrorist was punched in the face. He is a cowardly murderer of civilians and the elite forces involved in capturing him actually showed restraint by not shooting him on the spot. Navy SEALs are among the highest trained, most dedicated people in the entire military. If you want to read about the hell Navy trainees go through to become SEALs, please read the incredible book "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Luttrell, a former SEAL who received the Navy Cross for heroism in combat. It is insane that after all these three men have done for their country, their time is being wasted by these ridiculous allegations.
If you want to help these Navy SEALs win their trials, here are some options. First, you can join the Facebook groups "Support The Navy SEALs who Captured Ahmed Hashim Abed," which currently has 99,000 members, and "Protest the Prosecution of 3 Navy SEALs," which has 199,000. You can also donate to their defense fund through Maritime Tactical Security.
War is no time for political correctness. These heroes should be saluted for their bravery and all charges should be dropped immediately. Lastly, the media, which never misses opportunities to champion the causes of convicted murderers on death row, should instead use its resources to intensely scrutinize the government's case against Navy SEALs who never should have been charged with crimes in the first place.

Thank you for standing up for our troops and our Seals facing prosecution! It is so important for the media to step in on this and it truly scares me why there has not yet been a media frenzy over this. It is such a shame that these men are even in this position during a time of war. We are showing our enemies how weak we are internally by allowing any of this to continue. Thank you again for defending our most valued soldiers of this country!
